People ask us from time to time why dogs need any sort of flotation wear, since, after all, "they can swim."  The answer is that when they're with you, splashing around a small pond or backyard pool that they can get out of on their own and where they can't go much distance, they probably don't.  Dogs are naturally sprint swimmers - they duck in and out of water, fetching and then resting.  However, even the best swimmers - human or canine - will struggle in deep, cold or moving water, when they're tired out but can't exit the water, or anytime they panic or become disoriented.  If a dog is being taken on a real water adventure where they might have to be lifted back into any sort of watercraft (from a boat to a raft), or where they might get into deep or moving water, they need a buoyancy aid that assists their swimming efforts and allows them to be comfortably and efficiently assisted out of the water.

Sizing:

Body weight is the most important measurement in a Float Doggy flotation jacket.  To select the correct size, look for a size that fits a breed matching or similar to your dog, and check against your dog's body weight.  The double strapping construction accommodates broad shoulders, deep chests and narrow waists.
