If you have an SUV and you travel with a large breed dog, you'll love the Otto Step! The Otto Step is a compact, durable and easy-to-use portable platform that assists pets as they get into and out of sport utility vehicles and pick-up trucks. This ingenious device fits right into any 2" trailer hitch receiver, giving your dog a way to step up into (or out of) your SUV - a height of nearly 3 ft. in some vehicles. The Otto Step makes it possible for a large dog to step up into the SUV or truck easily, without your having to assist by lifting up the hind legs. And when it's time for them to get back out, the Otto Step protects their joints from possible injury that could occur when they jump straight from the vehicle to the hard, paved ground.
The Otto Step is engineered to support dogs weighing anywhere from 40 to over 200 lbs., yet it weighs just just 5.5 lbs. It's durable, strong, non-skid and lightweight. It is completely portable, so you can take it with you in your SUV or truck very easily. When it's not in use, it can be stored in your garage just by hanging it on a nail or peg.
The Otto Step received the American Pet Association Seal of Approval and comes with a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer. See manufacturer's Training Guide for more information on introducing the Otto Step to your dog. Click on the Product Videos tab above to see the Otto Step in use.
The Otto Step platform is 18" x 16", with a 4" stinger that slides into a standard 2" hitch receiver.
(Note: Other accessory items available by special order include an extender for pick up trucks and an adapter for 1¼” hitch receivers. Please contact us if you are interested in either of these items.)

One of our 3 dogs is scheduled to become a tripawd soon and we purchased this in preparation for his surgery (on a minivan with hitch). In just a few minutes we trained our 80# labx to "step" instead of jumping; I plan to train the old lady hound too. The little one acts like she has springs so I doubt I will ever convince her to step into the vehicle. The Otto Step is very lightweight, sturdy, and easy to use. The only downside is you cannot secure it with the hitch pin, swing it away, and leave it on. I did see another product with this feature, but at easily 3X the price. We will make do with putting it on and taking it off for each entry and exit!
